Minutes of the June 2nd, 2010 Meeting

of

The Morris County Fire Prevention Association

The meeting was called to order at 7:08 PM by President Michael Pellek, who welcomed and thanked the Poster Contest Award Winners, their families and friends, and the 15 members in attendance.  Mike gave a brief history of our Association which started in the '80s and represents the 39 municipalities in Morris County.  Mike had the members introduce themselves and then turned the meeting over to Ian Bell, the Poster Contest Coordinator.

Ian announced the poster contest winners individually and gave out certificates from the Association, a certificate from Representative Frelinghuysen, a smoke detector, and other prizes to each winner present.  This year's winners are as follows:

Division 1        Gina Nardone from Netcong Elementary School

Division 2        Sean Moros from Netcong Elementary School

Division 3        Heather McDermott from Netcong Elementary School

Division 4        Tim Fagan from Morris Knolls High School in Rockaway

Division 5        -- no entries --

Division 6        Alina Carlson from The Calais School in Whippany

Division 7        -- no entries --

Photos were taken with each winner, Ian Bell and Mike Pellek inside and many group photos were taken outside by the monument.  Snacks and conversations were enjoyed by all.

A brief regular meeting ensued.

The minutes of the May meeting were approved.  The Secretary was asked to distribute the proposed by-laws revisions and to ask for acknowledgement of receipt by each member.

The Treasurer gave his report which was approved.

Paul Elenio gave the State Report which will be distributed by the Secretary when he receives it.  There was continuing confusion as to whether the upcoming test for certification for the last Fire Inspector classes is on the 2006 IFC the New Jersey Version, or the entire 2006 IFC.  (See note added to the minutes by the Secretary)

Dennis Lonagan reported that the next Fire Inspector class to be offered by the Academy will start in late August.  More information is to follow.

There will be a short presentation of interest to us all at the November meeting.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:25 PM.

The next meeting of the Morris County Fire Prevention Association will be held on Wednesday the 7th of July, at 10:00 AM, at the Morris County Public Safety Training Academy in a room to be named later.

Respectfully submitted,

Craig Babcock

MCFPA Secretary

Note:  On the day after this meeting was held Secretary Babcock learned at the New Jersey Fire Prevention and Protection Association Executive Board Meeting that the entire fire inspector class from the Monmouth County Academy failed the certification test which suggest that the test is indeed on the full 2006 IFC.
