COUNTY FIRE PREVENTION ASSOCIATION MEETINGS

 

APRIL, 2005

 

 

·         The next NJ Fire Safety Commission meeting will be held on May 18 at the Middlesex County Fire Academy.

 

·         The next County President’s meeting is scheduled for May 20th at the Middlesex County Fire Academy.

 

·         We are still working on the acquisition of all of the foam equipment and cascade units for the six UASI counties in Northeastern NJ.

 

·         The DFS was successful in the awarding of a contract by the AG’s Office for 6 mobile air cascade units for the UASI counties.  Each unit will be a rescue style body with a compressor, be capable of filling 6 SCBA cylinders at a time, and carry 100 spare cylinders.  Delivery is expected in approximately 8 months.

 

·         A proposal to adopt a New Jersey edition of the Delmar Recruit Firefighter Training program has been submitted for adoption.

 

·         New Jersey Weekend this year will be held in July 9-10.  The mailing will be at the beginning of May.

 

·         A proposal to amend the DFS firefighter injury and fatality investigation regulations has been submitted for adoption.

 

·         There are still 180 LEA’s that still need to submit corrected forms to Paul Allen (609-633-6112).

 

·         The DFS is still in need of part time inspectors.  If interested in part time work please contact the Division’s Personnel Officer, Marylain Kemp, at 609-633-6106.

 

·         At the request of the Fire Chief and Mayor of Teaneck, the DFS will be reviewing the fire department’s response to a single family dwelling fire that killed four children and critically injured their mother.

·         Reminder to report all fire fatalities to DFS as required by the regulations.  Additionally, any injury or fatality that occurs to a firefighter in the line of duty MUST be reported to the Department of Labor with 8 hours regardless of time through 1-800-624-1644.
