MORRIS COUNTY FIRE PREVENTION ASSOC.

Meeting called to order at 7:30 pm by President Pelick

Presidents Report: Again introduced the new officers for 2006. Spoke about working together and making the Assoc. more available to the public’s eye. We will be participating in some activities this year for public education and need some vol. to assist. Spoke about the re- arranging of the Meeting agenda and adding in some new committees. Requested that if any member has something they would like discuss to call him so it can be put on the agenda.

Vice Presidents Report: Excused from meeting

Sect. Report:  Did not have last months meeting min available will send out with this months minutes. Also had a correspondence form the Morris Co. 200 Club will bring up under new business.

Treasurer’s Report:                 Checking acct. starting bal. $4,417.13

                                Bill presented for payment for web site manager of $149.40. M/M and seconded to pay this bill, Motion passed.

                                Treasurer requested a permission to purchase needed office supply’s (i.e. stamps, envelops, etc.)  M/M to allow up to $100.00 fro supply’s, second and passed

N.J. Div. of Fire Safety:

                George advised us of the Presidents meeting to be held on Feb. 3^rd in Middlesex Co. Fire Academy. AED program is progress; if your dept. is not participating in the NFIRS you will not get the AED. If you want to get up to date with the NFIRS Contact the Div. (Heather) and she will set you up.

He spoke about a proposal on sprinkler retro fits in night clubs and new standard on alarms for this type use group. If you like to review the proposal go to web site dca.gov. Codes and standards, rules.

Said WABC and Div are still giving out smoke detectors, if you need more contact Charlie Luxton at the Division.  The Div. is looking for your report as far as estimated completed retrofit work in your LEA.

Marty asked a question on the fire extinguisher types /sizes.  George said Home Depot is advertising the wrong size for homes, the proper size by code when it comes out will be 2A10BC.

Spoke about the new 2000 fire code, George said Bob Davidson is hoping to have it completed and approved by July. Also George said that Bass Levin has been re appointed Director of Community Affairs and that Director Petrillo as of the meeting has not yet been appointed. The Div. is waiting on his appointment.

Assoc. Comm. Reports:

            Safety Town – Vinnie said they will be doing the food tasting at sky lands again for a fund raiser. IN May they will have an open public event at the site, the lease is signed for the property use, we need to raise some more money.

            Fire  Safety Education Trailer – President said we are working with Freeholders and trying to have them purchase the trailer, as of now seems like the trailer will be located at the Fire Academy and anyone can bring the children up to see it and also parking for busses will be available. We should se it by 2007. The golf outing is a go for the fund raiser, it will be the 1^st Thursday after Labor Day. (Date to be announced). Please start working on getting hole sponsors. A question was brought up on who will be able to teach with the safety trailer, Mike said Certified Fire Inspectors, Fire Officials, Fire Instructors.

            Poster Contest – President asked for volunteers to work on this committee. Paul said he will work on it. Would like to do what we did last yr have something at Academy for the winners.

            Web Site – Needs to be up-dated, if anyone has questions on the site please ask. Also if you have pictures or hold an event let us know and we can put it on the site.

            By- Laws – We need to get the by-laws up dated, Ed Nunn is working on that. We need to add the position of corresponding Sect. And the meeting dates.

            Public Relations – We will be attending a few things such as Nat’l night out, we are looking for some people to help with this committee.

            Code Proposals – N/A

Old Business – N/R

New Business -  M/M to take an ad out in 200 club (full page) Motion was passed, M/M to allow Treasurer to spend up to $100.00 for office supplies, motion passed.

Good & Welfare – President asked if anyone wants to nominate a Fire Inspector of the year t forward it to the committee. Also said Wharton is looking fro a P/T Inspector.
