9th Annual Juvenile Firesetter Conference will be held on December 1

The DFS has
approximately 1000 smoke detectors still available for those who wish to have
free smoke detectors to distribute to members of their community who live at or
below the poverty level. The next date to pick-up smoke detectors is
October 6th. Please contact

It has been
brought to the DFS’s attention that some banquet facilities are using
non-approved proximate audience displays and open flames during their receptions
and/or banquets. FO/FI’s are reminded
this activity requires approval by the FO and a Type 1 and/or Type 3 permit
allowing the activity. The regulations
for flaming food and proximate audience displays are attached to this update.

Once again, it
is the season when many individuals and organizations are creating temporary
haunted houses, outdoor mazes, etc. For
your convenience, attached are the applicable provisions of the Code, and a
practical tent, canopy and outdoor maze matrix.
