Minutes for September 7, 2005
Meeting called to order at 10:10 hrs by VP Pellek with 14 members present
President Heimbach arrived late and advised VP Pellek to continue over meeting

State Rep.: No one was present at the meeting. VP Pellek entered into the minutes a list of new contact phone numbers for the Division. Copy’s will be made and distributed next meeting.
County Fire Marshall Phil Wilk: Phil thanked everyone who helped at the 4H fair and said it was a big success. He said over 1,000 hats, pencils and coloring books were given out. Purchasing is big in the County, they brought buildings in Greystone and now also Cregmear resort. The resort will be used for a convention center and company picnic area as it was before. We thanked Phil for his work at the 4H fair. Phil asked that we ok the use of the ventriloquist for next year, M/M to book him for next year and passed. Phil has smoke detectors if anyone still needs them and also if you want to go pick them up yourself you can call Charlie Luxton and set up an appointment. A question was asked about smoke detectors for the hearing impaired. President said forms are on the website and were emailed to all members. If anyone else needs more, he has extra forms. President also stated he is in communication with Mike Reyer who is working on smoke detectors for the blind.
County Fire Coordinator: Spoke about Katrina 2 deacon units left 6am today, as of now no need for firefighters. State said for all firefighters, EMS to stand down as of 5pm yesterday. Phil asked about any members of CERT going, Jack said not as of yet. Ed asked about FEMA requesting 100 firefighters, Jack said they are just standing by doing public relations not firefighting. VP asked Jack if he was going to advise the Fire Chiefs ref. deacon units out of state and jack said yes he would today. Fire academy had graduation for firefighter one and two, went well. We will be holding Fire Inspector and Fire Official courses next year. 911 memorials at 6:15 pm on the 11th.
Trailer: VP reported a lot of progress has been made on trailers. Freeholders have been updated with plans to date and are working with us and are in agreement that a trailer is needed. Trailer committee will meet with Jack and Freeholders to discuss future plans and costs. President mentioned congressman Frelinghuysen sent a letter supporting our trailer and his office will help in any way they can.
Code Updates: Rich wants us to format a letter to be sent to Division on our concerns, M/M to have Tom McIntyre give us a letter, Tom will E mail to everyone. Spoke about CO alarms and the placement of same. The code tells you where they are to be mounted and to follow manufacturer’s specifications. Tom was thanked for his work with the codes.
Code Advisory: Phil said they are still working on sub chapter 3, that Davidson is working on it. Discussion on the hurricane proof windows, video is out should get a copy, this window is very hard to break thru. Phil has draft on night club codes and info on carnivals will make copies for next meeting. Discussion on Juv. Fire setters, Div, wants Fire Official to make recommendations.
Safety Town: Lease is signed; we have to empty building before we can work on it anymore. Will start in spring. St. Clair’s removed name on letter head as requested, but still involved
Golf Outing: VP reported outing is tomorrow and we have 13 sponsors and 28 golfers as of now. Thanks to Mark from Clark for donations and give a ways. Mark spoke about wrist bands as give a ways, they glow in dark 250 @ $1.75 each. President said Mark gave us a big discount on supplies for 4H fair and has continued to support our association with gifts and promotional products whenever we asked him. Mark was also instrumental in obtaining CO detectors to be given away. Please keep Mark in mind for your own needs, he has a lot of good ideas.
Poster Contest: Ed Nunn sent out letters of invite to winners, family and school to attend a presentation on Sept. 20th at 7pm at Academy.
New Bus.: Ed Nunn spoke about the Dunns number he was asked to obtain by the President. A motion was made to hold off any further action with dunns number until meeting with trailer committee, Jack and Freeholders takes place. 2nd was made and passed to hold off on further with dunns number.
No meeting next month, Nov. will be a day meeting and Dec, meeting will be hosted by Towaco and it will be our Holiday party.
